As we already explained in previous news, Santi Alcaide, Associate Trainer in Project Management in Netmind and Play To Growth’s CEO, and Miquel Rodríguez, Agile and Consulting Director in Netmind, attended the PMI® EMEA Congress 2018, from 7th to 9th of May, in Berlin.
The PMI ® EMEA 2018 Congress aims to provide the concepts, skills and behaviours needed to make the difference, so the motto of the event was “Calling All Difference-Makers”.
The game that was played was double:
- 32 people in the Classical Edition: Facilitator Santi Alcaide
- 32 people in the Agile Edition: Facilitator Miquel Rodríguez
It was also made in express verion (3 hours instead of 6 or 8 hours).
In the first place there was a initial contact and prototyping, followed by the execution of the project and ending with the debriefing, which was when the reflections were made about what had happened during the game.
The specialized teams to save humanity had a lot of fun and participated actively throughout the game, contributing their reflections and thoughts at the end. They commented with their acquaintances, explaining that the session was very fun and this caused more people to approach the facilitators to ask for information, since they had heard very good opinions about the game.
For PMI purposes, this activity was highlighted both by the satisfaction of the participants and by the echo it had afterwards, so much so that they made a publication talking about the session through their networks:
Can project management save humanity from the edge of extinction? Project and program leaders rallied to the cause in one of today’s immersive sessions at PMI® EMEA Congress 2018.
Attendees worked together to not only save the world, but also brainstorm potential breakthrough innovations, debate the differences between good project managers and great ones, and practice their strategic leadership skills.
Attendees also explored two of Berlin’s biggest projects: the notorious Berlin Brandenberg Airport and the massive Hauptbahnhof train station. It was a learning opportunity destined to stick with many attendees.
“The visit was beneficial to me to see that complexity is everywhere—not just on my project,” says Tamy Baddour, PMP, IT project manager at Bankmed, Beirut, Lebanon, who attended the Bandenburg Hauptbahnhof offsite. “It’s great to know that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how long it takes. It was an eye opener for me.”
We have already saved humanity from Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and Berlin!
